Coronation Street’s Christine Mackie takes the title role in all female and non-binary production of Shakesperian tragedy Lear at Hope Mill Theatre June 7–18 and Shakespeare North June 21–24.

HER Productions, Unseemly Women & Girl Gang Manchester announce the casting of Lancaster-based actor Mackie—Coronation Street’s Dr Gaddas—which will mark the companies’ fifth such production.

Directed by Kayleigh Hawkins, this Lear aims to show the monarch colliding with the working class. A world where systems are breaking down and a plush corporate boardroom can fall into ruin and disarray.
