Leicester’s De Montfort Hall staff are celebrating after Cinderella became its highest grossing pantomime, with more than 30,000 people seeing the 2022 show.

Cinderella was jointly produced by De Montfort Hall and Coventry-based Imagine Theatre. It featured brothers A J and Curtis Pritchard along with CBeebies presenter Evie Pickerill.

Gross ticket sales showed an increase of 20% on 2019 pre-COVID levels.

Venue director Antony Flint said, “we’re thrilled to be celebrating our most successful pantomime season yet. It was a great show with a great cast, and it was wonderful to see our auditorium full of both regular customers and new families.”

Cinderella also raised £7,600 for the show’s partner charity, The Bridge, Homelessness to Hope. Executive operations manager David Fawcett said he was grateful to the Hall and its patrons for their support.

"Our mission in these challenging times is to provide a platform for these people to regain hope and move forward with their lives after homelessness, and the donations from De Montfort Hall will allow our work to reach dozens of people in need."

Panto will return to De Montfort Hall in 2023 with Jack and the Beanstalk which will run from Friday 15 December until Sunday 7 January 2024.
