Steve Nallon and Eric Potts as Cissie and Ada

Cissie and Ada, the comic characters created by the late Les Dawson and his long-suffering sidekick Roy Barraclough, are about to grace Blackpool Grand Theatre’s stage once more—30 years on.

Cissie and Ada an Hysterical Rectomy will be showing July 15-16.

Broadway Theatre and Cutting the Strings Theatre Company are behind this new production, 30 years after the original duo’s first stage appearance in the Laugh with Les Show as part of the Grand’s 1983 Summer Season.

The two comedians had developed their personas around the earlier comedy of Norman Evans, who had created a similar role as women gossiping over the garden wall.

Cutting the Strings has secured rights to original sketches written by Terry Ravenscroft and will include many of the memorable classic scripts woven around Dawson’s later life story.

Two former Coronation Street favourites Eric Potts (Diggory) and Steven Arnold (Ashley) join Steve Nallon (famous for his Mrs Thatcher impersonation live and on satirical TV show Spitting Image) and actress Natasha Magigi.
