Coppélia from Birmingham Royal Ballet

Birmingham Royal Ballet returns to The Lowry in Salford, in its 25th anniversary year, with Coppélia from March 4-7.

During the run at The Lowry, the company will give children the chance to experience a brand new adaptation of Coppélia, made especially for them, with a performance of First Steps: a Child’s Coppélia.

Birmingham Royal Ballet will present one performance of First Steps: a Child’s Coppélia on March 6 at 1PM. A storyteller will set the scene and introduce the music and characters, followed by a performance featuring the full company of dancers and orchestra.

This new hour-long adaptation of the classic ballet tale is the perfect introduction to ballet for children aged 3-7.

Lancashire-born dancer Yvette Knight will dance the role of Dawn, amongst others. Yvette trained at the Royal Ballet School and danced with The Royal Ballet in Coppélia during her student days.

Yvette, who once won Young British Dancer of the Year, joined Birmingham Royal Ballet in 2007 and was promoted to First Artist in 2012.
