A Midsummer Night's Dream
What the Dickens?

This week Newbury’s Corn Exchange and New Greenham Arts announced a whole new season of Theatre, Comedy, and Dance.

This season kicks off with music shows Taking Care of Elvis, Elvis tribute act, The Counterfeit Stones, Forever In Blue Jeans and more. Don’t miss Silly Songs of Shakespeare on the 15th February for a light-hearted night out.

If comedy is your thing, then the likes of Mock the Week's star, Chris Addison, Lucy Porter and Paul Tonkinson head up the comedy line-up this season. You can also catch stand up mathematician Matt Parker in an intimate gig at New Greenham Arts on Saturday 9th March where he’ll be taking audiences on a tour through the world of numbers.

There’s plenty for the little ones too this season: Spot the Dog will be making his debut appearance at the Corn Exchange in Spot’s Birthday Party, The Gruffalo’s Child will visit in March and the team that bought Science Museum Live to Newbury back in April return with a new Guinness World Record Science Show.

It’s a chance to see the best, wackiest and officially amazing attempts and records from around the world. The audience will also be invited to participate in genuine live record attempts too with a cast of fully-trained Guinness World Records adjudicators on hand to authenticate and award genuine records on the night should they be broken.

There’s a strong theatre programme this season too. Catch Guy Masterson’s solo performance of Orwell’s Animal Farm on Thursday 31 January. For three days in March, London-based company Custom/Practice will present Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

New play What The Dickens? comes to Newbury on Tuesday 26 February. See what happens when young Charles Dickens, a rookie reporter for The Morning Chronicle, accidently stumbles on a story that could make his reputation. This comedy features just three actors playing over 20 roles in 80 minutes.
