Brassed Off

Members of the public are invited to appear in an upcoming stage production of Brassed Off at Gala Durham.

The city theatre is looking for women from County Durham to appear as members of the Women Against Pit Closures group in the show.

Previous acting experience is preferred, but not essential, with the venue hoping for participants who can bring energy and commitment.

Rehearsals take place at Gala Durham from August 15 until September 5 and include evenings and Saturdays, with community performers appearing on a rotating basis during the production’s run.

The deadline for expressions of interest is August 10.

Adapted from the hit film by Paul Allen and directed by Conrad Nelson, Brassed Off will run September 6–24 and tells the story of Danny’s lifelong ambition to lead his local colliery band to the National Brass Band Competition at the Royal Albert Hall.
