Drama workshops based around well-known children’s books will be on offer at The Courtyard Hereford as part of celebrations for World Book Week.

The free workshops will be delivered every morning at 10AM from Monday 1 until Friday 5 March, on the Courtyard’s Facebook page.

Starting the week is a KS1 workshop that is ideal for children aged from five to seven focussing on Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s The Gruffalo’s Child.

On Tuesday 2 March, children aged between 7 and 11 can explore Ted Hughes’s The Iron Man and bring it to life through drama. At 1:30PM, Cally Gee, author of the Miniphant series, will read snippets from her book Miniphant to the Rescue.

On Wednesday 3 March, the Courtyard will deliver a workshop based around Donaldson and Scheffler’s Room on the Broom which is suitable for “children of all primary ages and abilities”.

On World Book Day on Thursday, children can explore David Baddiel’s AniMalcolm in the morning. At 1:30PM, author Alan Stott will read excerpts from The Battle Begins, one of the books in his series Those Kids Next Door.

Children can take part in a workshop based around the dragon Zog on Friday 5 March.
