Bank On It will be performed at a secret location in Coventry

A new, “site-specific, immersive theatre experience for families” has been created in Coventry city centre.

Warwick Arts Centre is supporting Bank On It which involves a disused building being turned into an interactive “bank”.

Created by Theatre-Rites, Bank On It is a “joyful quest to find an elusive bank manager, designed to get children thinking about resources, value and what money can and cannot buy”.

The show has its roots in Warwick Arts Centre’s This_Is_Tomorrow project, a commissioning programme in which academics from departments across the University of Warwick were introduced to artists to begin new collaborations on a wide range of topics.

Theatre Rites artistic director Sue Buckmaster came up with an idea which was co-commissioned by Warwick Arts Centre and the University of Warwick’s economics department.

Paul Warwick and Ed Collier from China Plate, associate producers at Warwick Arts Centre, oversaw This_Is_Tomorrow where the seeds of Bank On It were sown.

Warwick said, “Ed and I are especially pleased that this enchanting and visually stunning promenade performance will be playing in Coventry this autumn.”

The location for the show will remain a mystery and those who buy tickets to the show will be transported there by coach.

There will be two performances daily throughout the half term, from Saturday 19 October until Saturday 2 November.
