Immersive theatre company Beyond Theatre claims to have created the world's first COVID-compliant drive-in theatre venue in Manchester.
The company was due to open its new 'immersive' musical The White Witch just days after lockdown was imposed, but instead has created Drive Inside, a drive-in venue that it describes as "Megatented" as it is covered by canvas.
Inside, cars have their own allocated spaces and audiences are only allowed to get out of the driver's side to use the available folding chairs. The licensed venue has open sides and has catering facilities with an audience capacity of 800.
The current location is only given as "the centre of Manchester", but there are plans to take the venue to London and Edinburgh.
