Creative UK to advocate for the arts at Labour Party Conference

Creative UK and 40 organisations will be at the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool 22–24 September to present "the solutions the cultural and creative industries have for the socio-economic challenges we face."

The Cultural and Creative Industries Pavilion within the conference zone will feature three days of policy-led discussions and debates alongside performances and presentations on topics including "why who makes culture matters, rethinking funding models, our collective approach to creative skills development, navigating the age of AI, and Britain’s position on the world stage."

Events will include actress and singer Cynthia Erivo in a fireside discussion, actress Vicky McClure discussing how to broaden working class representation in the creative Industries with filmmaker Jonny Owen and Alison Rashley, Executive Artistic Director of the Television Workshop in Nottingham, actor, director and author Andy Serkis on how to grow the UK’s position as an international hub for the creative Industries with President of the Motion Picture Association, Stan McCoy, Children's Laureate Frank Cottrell-Boyce in conversation with Bonnier Books’ Perminder Mann on the positive impact of literacy in children, actor, presenter and RADA President David Harewood on creative skills, education and the links between creativity and health, actor David Morrissey discussing how to drive regional change and equality of opportunity and actor Adrian Lester in conversation.

The National Theatre will present screening of Nye starring Michael Sheen as Nye Bevan, Les Dennis will reprise his performance as Malvolio in Not Too Tame's production of Twelfth Night, In Harmony Liverpool youth orchestra will open the pavilion and there will be performances from winner of Channel 4's The Piano Brad Kella and singer-songwriters Ni Maxine and Michael Aldag.
