West Cumbria company Studsvik has agreed to sponsor The Carnegie Youth Theatre in Workington for a second year. Leaders and members of the Youth Theatre, whose meetings resumed this month, are overjoyed at the continuing funding package.

“Following a successful year sponsoring Theatre by the Lake’s Carnegie Youth Theatre, I am pleased to say Studsvik will be continuing our support for a further 12 month period. It has been inspiring watching the group progress over the past months and we take very seriously how important projects like this are for local children,” said Sam Usher the company’s president.

In reply Jeff Wallcook, who delivers Carnegie Youth Theatre sessions, said: “The support that Studsvik offered last year was imperative to the success of the Youth Theatre. Not only did they sponsor the Carnegie group but they also took an active interest in what the group were doing by not only attending the sharing sessions but by taking part in some of the Youth Theatre sessions as participants.”

The Youth Theatre’s sessions are delivered by Theatre by the Lake’s team based at The Carnegie Theatre on Finkle Street in Workington.

The youth theatre programme aims to develop social, drama and performance skills using various theatre techniques and styles. The first term will focus on giving members the tools to present their thoughts and ideas in a theatrical way.
