Leicester organisation Charity Link has joined forces with the city’s Curve theatre to put on a “magical” experience for those in need at Christmas 2018—and is calling on businesses for support.
Curve will open its two Christmas productions exclusively for local people in hardship and crisis. Charity Link has been supporting people in vulnerable situations for more than 140 years and shares Curve’s mission to ensure great theatre is made accessible for all.
More than 1,200 seats have been reserved. Charity Link is looking for businesses to fund the places for those most in need. As part of the experience each guest will receive a hot meal, show programme and drinks during the interval.
The idea for the event came from Rachel Hargrave, director of Leicestershire agency RDZ PR, a long-term donor to Charity Link and a business sponsor of Curve.
Susan McEniff, director of Charity Link, said, “we’re passionate about helping those most in need in our local communities, addressing immediate crisis and helping people move forward from hardship by providing essential items. This event really does have the potential to impact positively on the lives of those attending.”
Curve’s chief executive Chris Stafford added, “when we were approached with this fantastic idea we were instantly inspired as Curve is dedicated to ensuring that everyone who lives, works and learns in our city has access to great art. Charity volunteers and the full team at Curve will be rolling up their sleeves to give 1,200 people a Christmas to remember.”
