Pam Gems's Piaf at Curve

Leicester’s Curve Theatre has announced the cast for its forthcoming production of Pam Gems’s Piaf and has also revealed that its Christmas show will be a new version of the award-winning musical Chicago.

Frances Ruffelle will play the title role of Piaf. Her extensive theatre credits include creating the role of Eponine in the original London and Broadway casts of Les Miserables. Dinah in the original company of Starlight Express; and Roxie Hart in Chicago.

She will be joined by Laura Pitt-Pulford, Tiffany Graves, Dale Rapley, Oliver Boot, Stephen Webb, Jason Denton, Russell Morton and Sean Dodds. Curve’s artistic director Paul Kerryson will direct.

The production opens on Tuesday 26 February, with previews from Friday 22 February. It runs until Saturday 16 March.

Planning is underway for a national tour of the production. Details will be confirmed later.

Meanwhile, Kerryson will also direct a new stage version of Chicago as the centrepiece of Curve’s fifth birthday celebrations.

The theatre’s chief executive Fiona Allan said, “Curve has gone from strength to strength in the first five years and it feels the right moment to mark that progress and success.

“Paul Kerryson’s reputation for producing exceptional musical theatre continues to flourish at Curve and as such I can’t think of a more appropriate way to mark our fifth anniversary than by celebrating on the opening night of his new production of Chicago.”

The musical will run from Friday 29 November until Saturday 11 January.
