Wanting more: three teams of children are required for Oliver!

Leicester’s Curve is to hold auditions for the junior cast of its production of Lionel Bart’s Oliver! which will be staged at Christmas 2015.

Curve’s chief executive Fiona Allan said, “Oliver! continues Curve’s tradition for major revivals of classic family musicals over the festive season. The standard of those who audition at Curve is always incredibly high so we’re excited to see what new talents our search uncovers in Leicestershire.”

Curve is looking for boys aged between 7 and 13 with unbroken voices to play Oliver, the Artful Dodger, the workhouse boys and members of Fagin’s gang. Anyone auditioning should be under 5ft 2ins tall.

Former Curve artistic director Paul Kerryson, who is returning to direct the production, said, “Oliver! is such a brilliant musical to watch and to perform in. There’s an abundance of young talent in Leicester and Leicestershire. Boys can be from any nationality but must be able to sing and dance really well, as well as being fearless in projecting their acting abilities.”

Three teams of children are required. Junior cast members will need to be available for rehearsals which will take place on weekends and week nights as well as in the autumn half-term break. Each team of children will be scheduled to perform two or three times a week during the show’s run.

Anyone interested in applying should follow the audition guidelines and complete the application information found on Curve’s web site. Applicants will be contacted with a date and time for their audition.

Oliver! previews from 27 November and opens on 2 December. It runs until 16 January 2016.
