A new version of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical The Sound of Music will be the Christmas 2014 show at Leicester’s Curve.

Directed by the theatre’s artistic director Paul Kerryson, The Sound of Music will preview from 28 November and run from 3 December until 17 January.

The theatre has also announced that Cameron Mackintosh and Michael Harrison’s national tour of the Chichester Festival Theatre production of Barnum will start at Curve.

Starring Brian Conley in the title role, Barnum runs at Curve from 5 until 13 September.

Paul Kerryson commented, “We’re all very thrilled to announce two fantastic family musicals in Curve's autumn season.

“We’ll transport you to the snowy mountains of 1930s Austria for the perfect Christmas treat with The Sound of Music. We’re also delighted to welcome Barnum which will open its highly anticipated national tour here in Leicester.”
