“One of musical theatre’s greatest triumphs”: Rent: The Concert

Leicester’s Curve is to stage Jonathan Larson’s rock musical Rent: The Concert in-the-round in the theatre’s specially adapted auditorium.

It will be directed by Curve’s artistic director Nikolai Foster. In a statement, Foster and chief executive Chris Stafford said, "as we emerge from this pandemic, it feels timely to reflect on the resilience and courage which defined the lives of so many during the 1980s HIV / AIDS pandemic.

“Jonathan Larson's astonishing Pulitzer Prize-winning musical represents one of musical theatre's greatest triumphs, defining an entire era through its blazing music and iconic characters. It’s simply one of the greats and we’re thrilled to present it in a staged concert at Curve.”

Rent: The Concert will be performed from Tuesday 10 until Saturday 21 August.

Curve will fully reopen on Thursday 1 July with performances of Peter James's Looking Good Dead.
