I Love You Mum

I Love You, Mum—I Promise I Won’t Die tells the tragic true story of teenage ecstasy victim Daniel Spargo-Mabbs.

It’s at the Dukes Theatre in Lancaster March 21.

Written by award-winning playwright Mark Wheeller and produced by TiE It UpTheatre, it’s commissioned by the drugs education charity set up by Daniel’s parents.

Daniel, a popular 16-year-old schoolboy, died after taking a lethal dose of ecstasy at an illegal rave in 2014.

The title comes from Dan’s final words to his mum before he left home for the last time. The play was published in 2017 and has been studied and performed by young people around the world since then.

In September, it will become a GCSE Drama set text in England and Wales.
