A debut performance of The Legend of Tarifa by Manchester-based writer Natasha Smith will take place on July 24 at the Cervantes Institute on Deansgate in the city.
Blending poetry, music, song and dance, it is a tale of magic and mermaids and a young man’s quest for eternal love, inspired by the passion of Flamenco and Andalusia.
Natasha is currently studying for a masters under Jeanette Winterson, Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Manchester.
The original music score was composed by Gillian Menichino, who is doing a PhD in music at the Royal Northern College of Music. The dancers are from Manchester dance school, the Danceworks.
It is a free event and will last 45 minutes.
