Derby audience to give opinion on new musical

The Opinion Makers, a new musical described as “Mad Men meets Miranda”, is to start an 11-day run at Derby Theatre.

A co-production between Derby Theatre and Mercury Theatre, Colchester, The Opinion Makers includes in its cast Mel Giedroyc, who has just finished the latest series of the TV show The Great British Bake Off, Justin Edwards, known to millions through his TV roles in shows including The Thick of It, Daniel Boys, Julie Atherton, David Mounfield, Benjamin Stratton and Stacey Ghent.

The show has been penned by Brian Mitchell and Joseph Nixon and features a “chaotic cast of characters centred on the incompetent team at Fernsby Market Research”.

Daniel Buckroyd, artistic director of the Mercury Theatre, directs. Sound designer is Tom Lishman, musical director Tom Kelly and musical supervisor Richard Reeday.

The Opinion Makers runs at Derby Theatre from Wednesday (13 November) until Saturday 23 November.
