Tented performances: The Wind in the Willows

Derby Theatre is to stage Toby Hulse’s adaptation of Kenneth Grahame’s The Wind in the Willows in a marquee on the city’s Market Place.

To celebrate the return of live performances, the theatre is offering 500 free tickets for members of the public to nominate someone to watch either The Wind in the Willows or the theatre’s Christmas 2021 show Treasure Island.

Derby Theatre’s artistic director and chief executive Sarah Brigham said, "this year has been challenging for everyone, but one thing that’s been fantastic to see during the pandemic is that sense of community, and those people who’ve gone the extra mile in supporting others.

“As a theatre that sits at the heart of our community, we want to help you say thank you for those acts of kindness. Whatever the reason, we would like to hear from you and how someone’s small act of kindness has made a big difference to you."

The closing date for nominations is Friday 21 May at 5PM. All nominations will be assessed by an independent panel and the nominees selected will receive four tickets for a performance.

The Wind in the Willows will be directed by Trina Haldar and will run from Sunday 27 June until Saturday 11 July.
