Derby Theatre is to run a summer school for 8- to 16-year-olds who will produce a play in a week.

Caroline Barth, the theatre’s head of learning, said, “We’re really excited about working with the talent and energy of young people of Derby and Derbyshire.

“Our professional theatre practitioners will work with the group to make a performance to share with friends and family.

“This is a great opportunity for young people who haven’t been involved with us before and those who’d like to develop their passion for theatre.”

The summer school will be held from Monday 29 July until Friday 2 August.

Fifty places are available, 25 for 8- to 11-year-olds and 25 for those aged 12 to 16. The cost is £65 each.
