Derby Theatre's main stage on which Pulse will be performed

Derby Theatre is to hold auditions which will be open to the public for cast members and other production-related roles for its 2014 Derby People’s Theatre production, the comedy drama Pulse.

Pulse is a new hospital-based play commissioned by Derby Theatre from local writer Sally Siner and focuses on a day in the life of the fictional Derby Orb Hospital.

The initial idea for the production came out of a workshop with local people and has grown into an opportunity for the community to take part in all aspects of creating a full-scale production.

All ages and ethnicities are invited to audition including people from the deaf community for casting in two specific roles and to support with interpreting in rehearsals.

Caroline Barth, head of learning at Derby Theatre and director of Pulse, says, “I really urge people to come and audition as we’re looking to cast a wide range of characters, young and old, from different ethnicities and with a range of experiences and backgrounds.”

Group workshop auditions will be held on Sunday 23 March. Pulse will be performed on the Derby Theatre main stage from Wednesday 30 July until Saturday 2 August.

Anyone who would like to apply for an audition slot or who has questions about the production should email Caroline Barth at [email protected] or download an application form from the Derby Theatre web site.

Application forms should be returned no later than Wednesday 19 March.
