A new adaptation of F Scott Fitzgerald’s classic The Great Gatsby will start Derby Theatre’s 50th anniversary season.
Produced in partnership with Scotland's Pitlochry Festival Theatre, the production will feature live music and will be set against the glamorous backdrop of the jazz age in 1922.
The Great Gatsby will be on stage from Friday 3 until Saturday 25 October. During the run Derby Theatre will host a fundraising gala to celebrate its 50 years.
The rest of the theatre’s season includes two Christmas shows: a new adaptation by Deborah McAndrew of Charles Dickens’s Oliver Twist which will run in the main house from Friday 28 November until Saturday 3 January 2026 and Tortoise and the Hare, a co-production with Hiccup Theatre and Polka Theatre, in the studio from Saturday 6 December until Saturday 3 January 2026.
Derby Theatre’s big main house production for spring 2026 will be Shakespeare’s Macbeth which will be produced in partnership with Hull Truck Theatre and Octagon Theatre Bolton. It will run from Wednesday 1 until Saturday 18 April.
