Eight new dramas in a week at Manchester Fringe

Eight new dramas will be staged over the next week as part of the Greater Manchester Fringe Festival.

Chris Brown's The Messiah directed by Sue Jenkins revolves around the character of Mr Kitson, "a self-centred, narcissistic knicker factory manager". It will be at the Ruby Lounge on 9, 11, 17 and 18 July.

Under Manc Wood by Chris Kelly translates Dylan Thomas's most famous work to 21st century Manchester at the Kings Arms on 7, 8 and 13 July.

Mr Smith, written and directed by Colin Connor with an original score by Mark Simpson, is the story of how Manchester band The Smiths changed the life of one man. This is also at the Kings on 9 and 10 July.

Cheeky Peacocks Theatre Company will perform Chuggers by Ben Baxter at the Kings on 10 July, "a hilarious insight into just how far two friends will go to reach their dream".

Peaceful, presented by the Off-Off-Off-Broadway Company at the Kings on 7 and 8 July is a thriller inspired by the real-life Winchester Mystery House.

Snatched From Home at Salford Arts Theatre from 8 to 10 July is adaptated from Cumbrian writer Graham Smith’s best selling debut novel on middle-class parents on a kidnapping.

Le Grand Return at The Swan Dobcross on 7 and 8 July, about D-Day vets trying to break out of the Coldrick Nursing Home, has already sold out.

At Z-arts in Hulme, Before I Fall by Simon Jenkin, produced by Without Theatre, raises awareness of mental health issues, with 5 performances per day on 10 and 11 July.
