A North East theatre company has bucked the national trend by coming out of the pandemic stronger.

During lockdown, Elysium cancelled its live performances and instead streamed a series of COVID-19 Monologues—one-person performances reaching tens of thousands and receiving awards and accolades.

Elysium has now released another six, written by and starring talent from across the country.

It will follow this with a tour of Ibsen’s A Doll’s House, which will visit 10 Northern theatres in September and October.

The company will then tour another nine venues in November with Reiver—Tales from the Borders—an original production adapted from one of Elysium’s original monologues, by North East playwright Steve Byron.

Elysium co-founder Jake Murray is directing all of the company’s productions.
