Captain Cauliflower and Marvin the Mischievous Moose
Melanie Gall: Opera Mouse

In a new departure for CaroleW Productions, Carole Wears has handpicked two children’s shows which will be performed in February and March in Gosforth and Byker. As always, they are shows that she has enjoyed and wants to share with North East audiences.

First, on 21 February (11:00 and 2:00), Mad Etiquette and Gosforth Civic Theatre present Captain Cauliflower and Marvin the Mischievous Moose in which the audience will join the invincible Captain Cauliflower, sporting a mystical magic hat that gives him superpowers, and his faithful companion Marvin on an adventure filled with "extreme silliness and unquestionable danger" in outer space and deep under the ocean, saving those in peril from his nemesis, Captain Onion.

Performers Dan Lees and Neil Frost combine physical comedy and storytelling in a 50-minute non-verbal show that’s suitable for all the family.

Then, at 2:30 on 3 March at The Cumberland Arms in Byker, Melanie Gall with CaroleW Productions and The Cumberland Arms present Melanie Gall: Opera Mouse, a show which sees the NE debut of Canadian Opera Singer Melanie Gall with her internationally acclaimed Opera Mouse, an interactive introduction to opera for little ones.

Tilly Mouse lives under an opera house and she just loves to sing. But whenever anyone sees her, they scream and run away. With determination, imagination and help from her friends, Tilly proves that even a mouse can be a star.

“Both of these shows are so rich and joyful,” says Carole Wears. “Each last no more than an hour, with the children very much part of the show—and if they are anything like me, the grown-ups won’t be able to help themselves from getting involved either. Spurred on by my own new role as ‘Nana Carole’ to Baby Arlo, I hope this will be the start of a CaroleW Productions programming strand for children and young people across venues and genres—got to keep them entertained!”
