Birmingham’s BE Festival which celebrates “the best of European theatre” is to return, taking place across various stages and backstage areas of the REP Theatre.
The festival “has turned the notion of conventional theatre upside down and blurred the boundary between audience and artist”. The week-long festival offers a “unique programme of European theatre, dance, comedy, circus, music, visual and performing arts”.
As previously reported, 20 theatre, dance and circus groups will take part including for the first time companies from the Czech Republic and Ireland.
One of the festival’s quirks includes the interval dinner during which audience members, actors and staff can enjoy a meal together on the main stage under the spotlights.
BE Festival runs at Birmingham REP from Tuesday 23 until Saturday 27 June.
