Pentabus and HighTide are to embark on their third Ghost Stories tour, which will “thrill and terrify” audiences around Halloween 2025.
Even More... Ghost Stories by Candelight will be directed by Pentabus artistic director Elle While and dramaturged by outgoing HighTide artistic director Clare Slater, who is to become head of play development at the National Theatre.
Slater said, “my last season at HighTide is a true celebration of what makes the company, our writers and our region so vital. New writing is the lifeblood of theatre, and I’m proud of the part HighTide plays in championing it.
“Our new mission of developing playwriting talent in the east (of the country) is working, evidenced by the many brilliant writers we’ve commissioned over the past three years including this season’s Rosa Torr, a Norwich-based writer who came up through our writers’ group and whose ghost story will shortly be touring the UK.”
The stories will be written by Florence Espeut-Nickless, a writer and actor from Chippenham, Wiltshire; Simon Longman, originally from the West Midlands; Anne Odeke, an actor and emerging playwright; and Rosa Torr, an interdisciplinary writer and producer.
Even More... Ghost Stories by Candelight will open at the Theatre Royal, Bury St Edmonds on Monday 6 October. It will tour to Ipswich, Harlow, Southend, Wells-next-the-Sea, Peterborough, Diss, Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft, Halesworth, Norwich, Bristol, Ludlow, Birmingham, Prescott and Battersea Arts Centre, London until Saturday 8 November.
