Six female writers for stage and screen have been commissioned by HER Productions to write six original short plays which will première at Hope Mill Theatre in February.

Through Vignettes, both established and emerging writers will meet regularly to develop their pieces, offering a collaborative environment, support, mentorship, and artistic development.

The writers are Coronation Street‘s BAFTA-winning Jan McVerry, Alexandra Keelan (BBC Radio 4, Oldham Coliseum Theatre, HOME), Keisha Thompson (award- winning Man on the Moon, PlayBox playwright with Box of Tricks), Ellen Taylor (Dream Team, Casualty, Waterloo Road), Katherine McDermott (Barbican, HOME, Royal Exchange) and Laura Harper (Oldham Coliseum Theatre, Hope Mill Theatre, Royal Exchange).

Founded by actor and producer Hannah Ellis Ryan, best known as Coronation Street villain Hannah Gilmore, HER Productions seeks to address the underrepresentation of female writers in theatre.
