Theatre by the Lake in Keswick will be hosting its first Youth Theatre Summer Festival from August 2-5.

The festival will provide 50 young people aged 8-18 with the opportunity to take part in theatre workshops and perform during the summer holidays. Aimed at young people with all levels of experience, from complete beginners to current youth theatre members, the festival will give those involved the chance to create theatre in different surroundings, learn new skills, make new friends and, importantly, have lots of fun.

The first three days will take place at the Kirkgate Centre in Cockermouth, where participants will create pieces of theatre both indoors and outdoors. The final day will take place at Theatre by the Lake, as participants perform their theatre pieces in the front of house areas and outside of the theatre—weather permitting!

The festival is being run as a partnership between Theatre by the Lake, the Kirkgate Arts Centre and the Carnegie Theatre in Workington.

Cost to participants is £40 which includes four full days of activity and places are limited to 50 offered on a ‘first-come first-served basis'.
