A four-day festival which “investigates and celebrates queer in its widest sense” is to be held in Milton Keynes.
Black Sheep Collective CIC is to curate QueerArtsFestival, a “celebration of the ‘essential differences’ between and among us. The festival values projects being critically led by queer, black and women’s voices as well as mounting work that has content, connections and / or meanings created by and within these tribes”.
The festival will include theatre, promenade performances, workshops and panel discussions.
Highlights include Black Sheep Theatre Company with Skin, a modern adaptation of the fairy tale Rumpelstiltskin, “set in an apocalyptic landscape where the gift of a new child is greater than ever before”, and Vanilla by Fur Coat No Knickers Theatre, “a testimony of young womanhood as we try to navigate our way in the land of the (sexually) free, walking the fine line of pleasure, pain and the fear of being boring.”
The festival will take place in different locations in Milton Keynes from Thursday 21 until Sunday 24 November. The full programme is available at the QueerArtsFestival web site.
