A Theatre Absolute writing workshop

Coventry’s Theatre Absolute is looking for new members aged between 14 and 18 to form its first group dedicated to nurturing the voices of young people in the city.

Writer Nick Walker is to hold a free four-day workshop in which young people will explore different approaches to writing for radio and theatre.

Theatre Absolute producer Julia Negus said, “we’ve been inspired by the various City Voices writing groups we’ve set up so far and we’re delighted to run this summer special which is specifically for young people.

“As we all prepare for being the UK City of Culture in 2021, it’s vital that we celebrate and hear from the future voices in our city. The workshop is not academic in any way, so there’s no need to worry about being ‘qualified’. We truly believe everyone can write and has a story to tell.”

The workshop will be at the Shop Front Theatre, Coventry from Monday 5 until Thursday 8 August from 10:30AM until 4PM. Places must be booked in advance by contacting Julia Negus on 07799 292957 or at [email protected].
