Nottingham Playhouse will this week offer a free lunchtime session called From Page to Stage which is part of a series exploring the art and craft of putting on a play.
The theatre’s artistic director Giles Croft will be talking about the choices and decision-making processes employed by designers.
He will choose one of the plays in The Lost Plays Revue which featured forgotten plays from early 1960s revues by writers including Harold Pinter, N F Simpson, Shelagh Delaney, Emrys Bryson and John Mortimer along with newly commissioned sketches and songs written by local writers including Michella Vacciana, Michael Eaton, Mufaro Makubika, Michael Pinchbeck, Stephen Lowe, Andy Barrett, Deborah Stevenson, Amanda Whittington and Nick Wood.
The Lost Plays Revue followed the discovery in 2011 of a short Pinter sketch for a revue called You, Me and the Gatepost which was presented at the old Nottingham Playhouse.
The forgotten sketch, Umbrellas, was discovered at the British Library and had been performed only once in half a century.
From Page to Stage will be held at Nottingham Playhouse on Friday (9 August) from 1 until 2PM.
