The national centre for black British arts and culture, Birmingham-based The Drum, is to stage an open day on Saturday.

Visitors will be able to find out about the Drum’s performance schedule while Young Gifted Brum (YGB), a programme of weekly creative workshops for children and young people, will deliver free arts workshops featuring drama, dance and music.

After a series of productions, YGB is diversifying and is to become a fully-fledged company, creating new work and developing the best scripts from Africa and Asia.

On the same day, Shivam Theatre will stage two performances of Kiran Purohit’s Lottery Lottery. Tickets for the first, a VIP show at 4PM which will be in Gujarati, cost £20 while those for the show at 7:30, in English and Gujarati, cost £15.
