Northampton’s Royal and Derngate is offering a series of free workshops for theatre directors.

The workshops will allow directors the opportunity to gain an insight into the processes other directors use when rehearsing a play and the workings of a regional theatre.

Aimed at people aged 16 and over who are based in the East Midlands, this series of events is for those interested in forging a career as a professional director.

Workshops will take place at Royal and Derngate on Tuesday 25 March from 6:30 until 8:30PM, Thursday 24 April from 6:30 until 8:30PM, Saturday 24 May from 11AM to 6PM and Tuesday 24 June from 6:30 to 8:30PM.

The workshops will be led by a variety of directors, exploring different aspects of the role. Each workshop is a standalone event, so it is not essential to attend all of them.

The workshops will be in collaboration with the JMK Trust, set up in memory of director James Menzies-Kitchin who died in 1996 aged 28. It commemorates him by providing talented young theatre directors with awards, guidance and development opportunities.

Anyone interested in taking part in the director workshops should contact Rebecca Targett at [email protected] to book a place or to find out more information.
