Magic Flute: highlight of Nevill Holt Festival 2024

Melly Still’s new production of Mozart’s The Magic Flute, conducted by Finnegan Downie Dear, will open the Nevill Holt Festival 2024 on the Nevill Holt estate, Leicestershire.

Created in partnership with Britten Sinfonia, the production will “champion the most promising singers emerging today”. It will run from Saturday 1 until Sunday 9 June.

Festival director James Dacre said, “for three weeks, Nevill Holt will be alive with music, performance, conversation and celebration. The very best of the performing and visual arts as well as literature and conversation will all join together in this magical place to present a diverse, entertaining and unique festival that I hope everyone will be proud of.”

Other highlights include Shadwell Opera’s first full-length operatic commission, The Devil’s Den by Isabella Gellis, a “tale of superstition and sacrifice rooted in English folklore”, on Saturday 15 June, and Austentatious: An Improvised Jane Austen Novel, a “riotously funny new literary masterpiece, based on nothing more than a title suggested by the audience”, on Sunday 23 June.

The full programme is available at the Nevill Holt Festival web site.
