The iconic lettering on the fron and side of Chichester Festival Theatre is to be auctioned off.

The letters were taken down earlier this year while the major redevelopment of the Festival Theatre continues.

All proceeds from the sale of the letters will go to RENEW, Chichester Festival Theatre's capital appeal to refurbish and improve the Festival Theatre. Each letter is 60cm high and up to 60cm wide, and made from durable, light-weight aluminium.

The sale will be in the form of a sealed-bid auction, and each letter is up for grabs with a minimum reserve of £100 each. Bidding ends on 30 September at 5PM. Any bids received after the closing daee will not be counted. The single highest bidder for each letter will be contacted on 1 October.

Sarah Mansell, RENEW Campaign Director, said: "We are delighted to offer the public the chance to own the letters that have been such a striking visual aspect of the Festival Theatre's ground-breaking design. The letters were visible from a great distance and have helped to guide thousands of visitors to our award-winning regional theatre."

Bids should be sent, along with the bidder's name and the desired letter, to [email protected] or to Sarah Mansell at Chichester Festivel Theatre, Oaklands Park, Chichester PO19 6AP.
