Lichfield Garrick has unveiled the cast of its in-house production of Elly Brewer and Sandi Toksvig’s The Pocket Dream.
Garrick panto legends Sam Rabone and Ben Thornton will return to the Staffordshire theatre’s stage along with Joe Feeney who played Luke Backinanger in the 2024 panto Jack and the Beanstalk.
Completing the cast are seasoned West End performer Tricia Adele Turner, Sarah Twomey, who appeared in the 2024 production of Emlyn Williams’s Accolade at Richmond Theatre, and Arthur Bostrom, best known for his role as Officer Crabtree in the BBC television series ‘Allo ‘Allo.
The Pocket Dream takes Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and wraps it in another comedy about a production that is going hilariously wrong. It will be directed by the Garrick’s chief executive and artistic director Daniel Buckroyd.
He said, “at the Garrick Theatre we love it when we can bring people together to experience the very best live performance and send them away laughing. So I was absolutely delighted when Sandi and Elly gave us permission to remount The Pocket Dream.
“It’s one of the funniest nights in the theatre I’ve ever had, combining wall-to-wall comedy, lightning costume changes, audience participation and a flying stage manager. And we’re excited to have such a fantastic cast joining us for the show.
“It’s also really important to us that we provide a platform for young people to showcase their talents, so we’re thrilled to have assembled a company of incredible, local, young performers to join our company as Puck’s hapless fairy helpers.”
The Pocket Dream will run from Thursday 24 April until Saturday 3 May.
