Sarah Harding of pop act Girls Aloud will make her stage acting debut alongside Hollyoaks heartthrob Andy Moss in Bill Kenwright's new production of Ghost - the Musical.
Harding will play Molly alongside Moss (Rhys Ashworth in Channel 4's Hollyoaks) as her murdered boyfriend Sam in a show with an expanded book, new music and new staging since the original production which premièred in Manchester in 2011.
Harding described the film as "one of my all-time favourites" and Kenwright described the musical version as "one of my favourite new musicals in years".
Writer of the original screenplay and the book and lyrics for the musical, Bruce Joel Rubin, said, "this is a show with such a strong emotional and musical life that it can mould to many visions and interpretations. It can be performed on any scale, and its vibrant heart will still captivate an audience and allows the imagination to flourish. It is purely theatrical in the greatest sense.
"We are very excited by the potential that the new version holds and elated it will tour the UK with Bill Kenwright”.
The production opens at New Wimbledon Theatre on 1 September 2016, then visiting Bristol Hippodrome, Birmingham Alexandra, Sunderland Empire, Blackpool Opera House, Cardiff New Theatre, Manchester Palace Theatre, Oxford New Theatre, Dublin's Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, Leeds Grand and Edinburgh Playhouse with this year's dates ending at Theatre Royal Nottingham on 3 December.
