Direct from its Christmas season in the West End, the Chichester Festival Theatre production of Goodnight Mister Tom comes to the Opera House in Manchester from January 29 to February 2.
Now a modern classic, Michelle Magorian’s uplifting tale is brought to life in a stage adaptation by David Wood, with Olivier Award-winning actor Oliver Ford Davies starring as Mister Tom.
The production opens its UK tour in Manchester, following a festive run at the Phoenix Theatre.
Set during the dark and dangerous build up to the Second World War, it follows sad William Beech, who is evacuated to the idyllic English countryside and builds a remarkable and moving friendship with the elderly recluse Tom Oakley.
