Guildford's Yvonne Arnaud Theatre will receive £5,000 from The Theatres Trust towards the refurbishment and installation of automatic sliding doors to improve accessibility through upgrading the main entrance to the theatre.
Yvonne Arnaud Theatre director James Barber explains, "Guildford's theatre presents over 600 performances a year, with more than 150,000 visitors coming through the main doors.
"Since the installation of power-assisted doors in 2006, these main doors are now in need of urgent upsgrading as a result of high usage.
"It is vital that we look after the needs of our patrons, ensuring the theatre is accessible to all members of our local community, and as such we are delighted that this grant from the Theatre Trust will enable us to do just that."
The Theatres Trust Small Grants Scheme helps theatres in need and at risk to address urgent building repars, improve their operational viability, introduce environmental improvements and enhance physical accessibility.
