The Royal Shakespeare Company’s new production of Hamnet will transfer to London’s Garrick Theatre for a 14-week season from Saturday 30 September.

The play, based on Maggie O’Farrell’s best-selling novel, has already sold out ahead of its world première this April at the newly restored Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Adapted by playwright Lolita Chakrabarti, Hamnet concentrates on the domestic life of Shakespeare, largely from the point of view of his wife Anne Hathaway, and the effect that the death of their son had on them both.
