Stockport Plaza is 90 years old this week.
The Art Deco gem has served its community in various guises and continues now as a Charitable Trust to provide live stage and big screen entertainment.
It’s internationally significant as the last remaining super cinema and variety theatre still trading and just over 20 years ago was saved from potential demolition.
There’s a host of events to celebrate the birthday and on Sunday the venue welcomes Robert Powell and Liza Goddard to present Silver Screen, a fitting romp through the first 100 years of cinema.
