A stage adaptation of Sebastian Faulks’s Birdsong—also the subject of a TV series—will come to Blackpool Grand from February 5 to 9.

Fairies, lovers, hapless actors, a disapproving father and theatrical magic combine in A Midsummer Nights Dream when Sell a Door presents the Shakespearean comedy on March 8-9.

Danny Dyer and Natalie Cassidy will star in a brand new stage version of Alfie!, the drama made famous by Michael Caine and set in the early sixties as London wakes up to sexual liberation. Dates and full details are to be announced.

One of the world’s best loved fairy tales comes to life in the magical opera Hansel and Gretel. Co-Opera Co presents this classic tale on February 1.

And Opera and Ballet International is back with Tosca and Carmen, March 10-11.

The Grand Theatre’s commitment to education and the community continues throughout the new season.

In partnership with Blackpool Schools and Blackpool Council Music Service, the Grand presents Schools Alive from February 11-14. Later in February, amateur company Fame School of the Arts present the musical Gypsy from February 19-23. The Works will showcase young talent from Phil Winston’s Theatreworks from March 22-23.

On Saturday February 2, Milkshake Live! will be taking to the stage in an all singing, all dancing live stage show starring Milkshake! favourites.

The Nightingale from the acclaimed Horse and Bamboo will be entertaining children on February 27-28 and Horrible Histories come to life from March 13-17.

Children’s Ballet is served up by Ugly Duckling, presented by Northern Ballet on March 26.
