Eight actors, two sheepdogs and a flock of Herdwick sheep star in one of the most ambitious productions ever staged at Theatre by the Lake in Keswick.

The Shepherd's Life, adapted by Chris Monks from James Rebanks's best-selling account of his life and work in the Lake District, runs from March 26 to April 23.

The dogs and sheep will be played by life-sized puppets, created and directed by Jimmy Grimes, associate puppetry director of War Horse. The show also features music and video footage of Matterdale, and Rebanks’s farm, in a celebration of modern shepherding.
