A project to transform Hereford theatre The Courtyard is complete and a two-storey additional performance space is expected to open in February 2021.
The Courtyard received initial funding for the £1.5 million expansion from Arts Council England in 2018. The front-of-house area has also been redesigned and an outside terrace has been created.
Ian Archer, The Courtyard’s chief executive and artistic director, said, “in a year with very few positives we’re delighted to announce that the building work is complete. It will allow us to expand our education and outreach programme as well as bringing exciting new programmes to our audiences.”
Bruce Freeman, chair of the Transform the Yard development committee, added, “it’s been a difficult journey at times but we’re proud of what’s been achieved and are absolutely delighted with the outcome.”
