Birmingham Hippodrome is urging people to dig deep for its annual festive fundraising campaign as it aims to raise £20,000 for relaxed performances.

Money raised will go towards expanding the theatre’s relaxed performance programme, enabling theatregoers with autism, Asperger’s syndrome and special needs to experience live theatre.

The Hippodrome staged its first relaxed performance, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, in 2013. Since then, there have been 12 other inclusive shows.

Rob Macpherson, director of marketing and development at the Hippodrome commented, “we’re a charity, so fundraising is essential to help us continue our work with the community. Our relaxed performances are incredibly popular and by supporting this campaign you can help ensure even more people get to enjoy the magic of live theatre.”

The theatre has joined the non-profit, charitable web site The Big Give which will double all donations between 27 November and 4 December.
