Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs has become the best-selling panto at Birmingham Hippodrome for more than a decade.

More than 115,000 theatregoers saw “Britain’s biggest panto” over its six-and-a-half-week run.

John Partridge, Gok Wan, Stephanie Beacham, Gary Wilmot, Paul Zerdin, Matt Slack and Danielle Hope played 77 performances, attracting audiences from across the country.

Michael Harrison, managing director of Qdos Entertainment’s pantomime division and director of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, says, “Everybody loves performing in Birmingham and it’s been another great pantomime run this year, with record-breaking sales.”

Just over a third of this year’s panto ticket-holders made their first Hippodrome booking.

Birmingham Hippodrome’s chief executive Stuart Griffiths adds, “I know that local businesses have benefited from the uplift in attendance, so it’s satisfying to be able to share this success across the city.”

Ian Taylor, commercial director at Marketing Birmingham, which operates the city’s leisure tourism programme Visit Birmingham, comments, “The Hippodrome’s popular pantomime plays a pivotal role in bringing visitors to the city, significantly benefiting local businesses by driving footfall to our many hotels, restaurants and shopping outlets.”

The Hippodrome has chosen Jack and the Beanstalk for its 2014-15 panto and casting will be announced in the spring.
