Two more plays open at Theatre by the Lake in June, to complement the already-playing Rookery Nook and The Winterling. One is a turn-of-the-century horror story, whilst the other is a brand new family comedy tackling modern concerns of caring for the elderly.
Opening on June 7 is the Main House adaptation of Dracula written by poet Liz Lochhead, the current Scots Makar (National Poet for Scotland).
Despite its name, the story actually focuses on Jonathan Harker, a young solicitor looking to impress his superiors by assisting a mysterious Transylvanian Count with the purchase of a property in England.
Opening in the Studio on June 13 is a brand new comedy from north west playwright Brendan Murray. Seeing the Lights unfolds in two rooms of a northern terrace, as a family prepares to celebrate mum’s 75th birthday.
