“Accidentally crossed a line” is how Geoff Adamson explains his involvement with online porn to his wife in the first of three plays that form the trilogy Crossing the Line which will play at Buxton Fringe.

Crossing the Line is “not so much Adamson’s story but more about the impact of his actions on those around him”.

Writer Michael Sheath has drawn on his 30 years’ experience of working in the field of sexual abuse and child safeguarding. Each short play looks at the story behind three very different women: the wife, the detective and the mother of a child who is groomed and abused.

Joanna Lavelle plays all three parts. She said, “Michael’s work is beautifully crafted. His expertise and first-hand knowledge of working with the police, social workers and victims’ families give his work a compelling honesty.

“In the first story, the wife has no idea how to cope with this bomb that has shattered her marriage. In the second story, the detective struggles to keep her personal feelings in check and maintain a professional distance at the same time as dealing with these ‘ordinary men doing terrible things online’. Although the unspeakable has happened to her precious daughter, ultimately there is a positive ending to the mother’s story which concludes the trilogy.”

Crossing the Line is in the Haddon Room at the Palace Hotel, Buxton from Thursday 12 until Saturday 14 July at 2:30PM.
